Lifestyle/Learning - Trening pamieci/ memory training part 1

"Pamieć jest jak czujny gospodarz,
najwicej uwagi poświca złym lokatorom"

"Memory is like an alert host,
it pays the most attention to bad renters"

Each of you  undoubtedly has experienced situations in which you could not remember the movie title, date, someone's name or phone number. Some of you  probably have been jealous looking at those who gave historical dates or the names of actors by heart. Surely many of you thought then that they regretted that they had no better memory. Meanwhile, our memory is something that we can practice and improve using appropriate methods and training. After all, as someone wise once said, "Practice makes perfect".

As you may have guessed, there are many techniques  improving our memory. Each of them in some way allows you remember in better way of slightly different issues. Today I would like to demonstrate to you one of them :-) As each of you knows well, there is facts and information that subjectively each of us remembers faster than the rest. It is the kind of knowledge that our brain, and thus our memory, absorbs much better. Often, however, we do not realize why it is working in this way.

Nasz mózg  dokonuje swoistej selekcji informacji kierujac sie pewnymi zasadami :

 1. Zasada początku i końca - zapamiętujemy najlepiej początek oraz koniec danego przekazu

Our brain makes a specific selection of information guided by certain rules:

 1. The principle of beginning and end - we remember best the beginning and the end of a given message

2. The principle of uniqueness - we remember those messages that are extraordinary, original and different from others

3. The principle of repetition - we remember solidify repeated information, thanks to this we remember them better than the rest

 4. The principle of understanding - it is easier to remember the contents that are understandable to us.

5. The principle of associations - we naturally remember information that we associate with something

As you probably already guessed, the techniques of memory improvement are based on these principles. At the same time, they take advantage of the fact that human memory is mainly based on images. Therefore, it is easiest; if we want to remember something, translate it into some kind of "picture" in our head. The attributes of such "picture" are:

  • humor, movement, exaggeration, absurdity, emotions, eroticism as well as detail and clarity.

Thanks to these attributes  we remember something much easier. The more of these attributes  and the more absurd they contain, the faster the content will remain in our memory for a longer time.

Of course, there are many other separate issues related to this topic of memory, but I will talk about them a little more later. Meanwhile, I present to you the first method that will be useful for remembering a series of colors (for which you can even substitute a list of products from your shopping list)

METODA KOLORY / METHOD OF COLORS :

Powyżej każda z Was widzi 10 serduszek w różnych kolorach.

Above, each of you can see 10 hearts in different colors. The whole "fun" is to successfully remember these colors in the correct order (from blue in the upper left corner to green in the lower right corner). For this, we will use the information that I wrote about in this post above.

So let's start - we take 1.5 minutes to remember the above sequence of colors, and during this time we create a "color" story in our head using the "images" I mentioned above. Everyone, of course, creates them in their own way.

Przykładowo u mnie wygląda to w sposób następujący :

For example, for me it looks like this:

"I look at the beautiful, azure Italian sky (blue), lie on the grass (green) and drink espresso (black), suddenly I notice that something is burning (red, I always associate fire with red), I look up at the sun (yellow), then I look again at the spreading fire (red), I see the groom in a suit (black) running towards me and the bride running and screaming behind him (white), together we reach for buckets of water to put out the fire (blue) and at the end we lie together on the grass talking about what happened (green).

Thanks to such a pictorial story, I can easily recreate the color list without any problem relying only on the pictures in my story. If someone would ask me for the order of these colors a few hours later or the next day, I would also handle it without any problems.

I hope that you like this memory training post  and you want to continue this series :-) Meanwhile, I wish you a nice training of colors based on your pictorial stories.

Lifestyle - script writing course/ kurs pisania scenariuszy telewizyjnych

„Nauka jest jak niezmierne morze.
Im więcej jej pijesz, tym bardziej jesteś spragniony.”

"Science is like an immeasurable sea.
The more you drink, the more you are thirsty. "

Ever since I remember, I've always been a person who liked to learn new things. To gain new skills. Some time ago I decided to sign up for a television series writing course. I made the course online as part of the Michigan State University project. The whole course lasts 5 weeks, during which the participants learn step by step the principles of correct script writing . The material is divided into the theoretical part in the form of video material, from which you can make notes, and also the practical part during which we write the general outline and subsequent parts of our script. The aim of completing the course is to write the whole pilot of the first episode, figures characteristics, general outline of all episodes of the series and the so-called. cold open.

As part of the course, we are  every week evaluated by our colleagues. At the same time, in order to pass another part of the course, we are required to evaluate at least 5 other participants of the course at every stage. In a situation in which we do not have time or the possibility to complete the required tasks in one week, there is a possibility to extend the deadline. The entire course is, of course, in English. During the course, the participant learns all the rules for writing TV scripts and also using special writing programs (Celtx, Final Draft). The course at the moment is free - we only pay for the certificate (cost $ 49).

Kurs ten znjadziecie tutaj - ponadto  Coursera oferuje cały szereg innych kursów tematycznych  prowadzonych w ramach różnych Uniwersytetów na całym świecie.

You will find the course here - in addition, on the Coursera website you will find a whole range of different types of  thematic courses conducted in different Universities around the world
