Dziś kolejna część cyklu pt. "Let's talk about shoes", w której po krótce zaprezentuję historię tych niezwykle komfortowych w noszeniu butów. Espadryle ( nazwa pochodzi od rodzaju traw esparto, z której je wytwarzano) są lekkimi butami, w których podeszwa wykonana jest standardowo z pewnego rodzaju naturalnych traw. Górna część buta natomiast powinna być zrobiona z płótna bawełnianego lub lnianego.
Espadryle wbrew pozorom mają na swoim koncie bardzo długą historię. Pierwsze egzemplarze bowiem pochodzą już sprzed 4000 lat ( można je zobaczyć w jednym z hiszpańskich muzeów). Ich ojczyzną zatem jest Hiszpania, a przede wszystkim Katalonia, gdzie w okresie średniowiecza nosili je żołnierze oraz żeglarze. To dzięki nim moda na to obuwie rozpowszechniła się w Afryce , a także w dalszej części kontynentu europejskiego. W kolejnych stuleciach sięgali po nie chętnie kapłani a także górnicy. Espadryle bowiem cechowały się niezwykłą jak na tamten okres trwałością. Zwykle wytwarzano je z czarnego płótna co dodatkowo nadawało im szyku i elegancji.
W dzisiejszych czasach buty te możemy kupić niemalże w każdym kolorze oraz wzorze. Nabędziemy je zarówno na bazarze jak i w ekskluzywnym domu mody.
Trend na espadryle narodził się dzięki kinematografii, dzięki filmowi "Key Largo", w którym pojawiła się w nich Lauren Bacall. Później na planie filmowym nosiły je takie osobistości jak Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn czy w latach 80-tych na palnie kultowego już serialu "policjanci z Miami" aktor Don Johnson.
