Kącik kinomana /Cinema lover's corner - " Psie pazury"/ "The power of the dog"

Filmy to moja miłość. W przeciągu roku oglądam setki filmów ( i to niekiedy w samym kinie), dlatego jak trafi mi sie taka filmowa perełka, która nie pozwala o sobie zapomnieć i zmusza do refleksji to chętnie się nią dzielę. Dzisiaj na warsztat biorę nominowany do wielu nagród film „Psie pazury”.

Opowiada on historię dwóch żyjących na  sporym ranczu braci Phila ( w tej mistrzowsko zagranej roli Benedict Cumberbatch) oraz George’a ( w tej roli Jesse Plemons). Pewnego dnia ten drugi potajemnie przed swoim bratem zawiera związek małżeński z miejscową wdową- Rose ( w tej roli świetna Kirsten Dunst), samotnie wychowującą dorastającego syna  Petera ( Kodi Smit-Mcphee). Gdy świeżo poślubiona małżonka wprowadza się na ranczo należące do braci wówczas słynnący z niełatwego charakteru Phil od początku subtelnie daje jej do zrozumienia, że nie jest ona tu przez niego mile widziana. Sytuację dodatkowo zaostrza pojawienie się w trakcie przerwy  szkolnej jej syna, z którym złośliwy, lubujący się w przemocy psychicznej Phil powolutku stworzy swoistą relację. Film nieuchronnie prowadzi nas  do zaskakującego ( przynajmniej dla mnie) finału. 

 Reżyserka powoli, małymi kroczkami wprowadza nas w duszny, pełen ludzkich emocji świat, prezentując przy tym charaktarestyczne dla tak wielu z nas uczucie zazdrości, niespełnionej miłości, potrzeby kochania oraz bycia kochanym. Za pomocą kamery portretuje przy tym sylwetkę człowieka, który się boi, i z tego strachu uzewnętrznia najgorsze cechy swojej osobowości jednocześnie pozostając przy tym niesamowicie ludzkim.

Akcja filmu, co wielu osobom może przeszkadzać, toczy się w bardzo powolnym tempie, dzięki czemu widz ma szansę zanurzyć się w emocjonalnej warstwie filmu, a dzięki temu poczuć co w danym momencie czuć mogą jego główni bohaterowie. Jednocześnie Jane Campion stopniowo odkrywa przed nami w kolejnych rozdziałach swojego filmu potęgę pazurów psa, którego patrząc w stronę wzgórz jak mówi nam Phil zobaczy tylko ten, który tak naprawdę chce go tam zobaczyć.

Przyznam, że troszkę bałam się tego filmu ze względu na fakt, iż nie jestem fanką westernów. Tymczasem reżyserka „Fortepianu’’ Jane Campion zaskoczyła mnie  nietuzinkowym anty-westernem, który oprócz fanstycznie zagranych ról aktorskich, zachwyca widza przepięknymi zdjeciami, scenografią oraz prostą, surową i perfekcyjnie dopasowaną do klimatu muzyką.

Movies are my love. During a year, I watch hundreds of movies (sometimes in the cinema itself), so when I come across such a "film gem" that does not allow me to forget about itself and forces me to reflect, I am happy to share it with you. Today I am presenting you the movie "The power of the dog", nominated for many awards.

It tells the story of two brothers Phil (played by fantastic in this role Benedict Cumberbatch) and George (played by Jesse Plemons). One day George secretly marries the local widow Rose (played by the great Kirsten Dunst), who brings up her adolescent son Peter (Kodi Smit-Mcphee) on his own. When the newly wedded spouse moves into the brothers' ranch, Phil, famous for his uneasy character, from the beginning subtly makes her understand that she is not welcome here by him. The situation is further exacerbated by the appearance of her son Peter during a break from school, with whom Phil, who is malicious and fond of psychological violence, slowly creates a specific relationship. The film inevitably leads us to a surprising (at least for me) finale.

 The director slowly introduces us into a stuffy world, full of human emotions, with small steps, presenting at the same time the characteristic feeling of jealousy, unfulfilled love, the need to love and be loved. With the help of a camera, she portrays the figure of a man who is afraid, and from this fear he manifests the worst features of his personality, while remaining incredibly human at the same time.

The action of the film, which may disturb many people, takes place at a very slow pace, thanks to which the viewer has a chance to plunge into the emotional layer of the film, and thus feel what its main characters can feel at a given moment. At the same time, Jane Campion gradually reveals to us in the following chapters of her film the power of the claws of a dog, whose gaze towards the hills, Phil tells us, will only see the one who really wants to see it there.

I was a little scared of this movie due to the fact that I am not a fan of westerns. Meanwhile, the director of "The Piano" Jane Campion surprised me with an extraordinary anti-Western, which, in addition to fanatically played acting roles, delights the viewer with beautiful photos, scenery and simple, raw and perfectly suited to the climate music.

February in the movie world is the month of Oscars - an award considered the most important  in the film industry. In Poland, many of the films nominated for this award you could see during February. 1. Anioł/El Angel

 

Propozycja do tegorocznych Oscarów prosto z Argentyny. Ten film jednak to dla mnie spore roczarowanie. Luźno opowiedziana biografia jednego z njasłynniejszych młodocianych zabójców nazywanego " Aniołem śmierci", który na swym koncie miał liczne kradzieże oraz zabójstwa - w tej roli bardzo dobrze sprawdził sie debiutujący Lorenzo Ferro. Mocnym punktem filmu oprócz głównego aktora są : scenografia oraz ścieżka dźwiękowa. Reszta niestety wypadła w moim odczuciu dość nijako.

A proposal for this year's Oscars coming straight from Argentina. This film, however, is a great disappointment for me. A loosely told biography one of the most famous younger junior killers called "The Angel of Death", who in his account had numerous thefts and murders - Lorenzo Ferro debuted in this role  is very good. The strong point of the film next to the actor playing leading role are: set design and soundtrack. The rest, unfortunately,  in my opinion  is rather quite vaguely.




2. Maria - królowa Szkotów - Mary queen of Scots

Film kostiumowy opowiadający historię dwóch królowych : Szkocji oraz Anglii, które prowadzą między sobą walkę o tron. Ciekawa obsada aktorska, charakteryzacja oraz kostiumy na pewno przypadna fanom gatunku.

A costume film telling the story of two queens: Scotland and England, who are fighting between each other for the throne. An interesting cast , make-up and costumes will surely appeal to fans of the genre.


3. Green book 

Bardzo dobra pozycja kinowa z wątkami poruszajacymi kwestie rasizmu w Stanach Zjednoczonych. Pracujący na co dzień  w klubie Tony zwany " Warą" zostaje zatrudnony jak osobisty kierowca czarnoskórego wirtouza fortepianu doktora Dona Shirleya - tak rozpoczyna się historia niezwykłej przyjaźni z przepiękną ścieżką zdjęciową w tle. Bardzo polecam.

Very good cinema position with threads touching on issues of racism in the United States. Tony called "Lips" working usually in the club is employed as a personal driver of the black piano virtuoso Dr. Don Shirley - this is how the begin the story of an extraordinary friendship with a beautiful soundtrack in the background. I highly recommend.

4. Faworyta - The Favourite

 

"Faworyta" to najnowsza propozycja kinowa reżysera słynnego filmu "Kieł". Na dworze królowej Anny pojawia się nowa służca Abigail - wkrótce nowo przybyła kobieta zaczyna zagrażać pozycji lady Sarah, która do tej pory bez większych problemów rządzi w imieniu schorowanej władczyni.

 Świetnie obsadzona i zagrana ( brawa dla wszystkich trzech pań), świetne kostiumy oraz scenografia. A w tle muzyka organowo barokowa oraz interesujaca praca kamery z wykorzystaniem tzw. efektu rybiego oka :-)

"Favorite" is the latest cinema proposition from the director of the famous movie "Kynodontas". At the royal court of Queen Anne, a new servant Abigail appears - soon the newly arrived woman begins to threaten the position of Lady Sarah, who until now has ruled without any problems in the name of not having well queen.


  Amazing  cast and their acting skills (applause for all three ladies), great costumes and set design. And in the background organ-baroque music and interesting camera work that using the so-called. fish-eye effect :-)



5. Planeta Singli 3

Trzecia część z serii filmów. Tym razem para głownych bohaterów zamierza stanąć na ślubnym kobiercu. Jedank wymarzony ślub okazuje się być inny niż przewidywano. Sporo zabawnych scen. Polecam dla tych , którzy w kinie poszukują czegoś lekkiego.

The third part from the film series. This time, the pair of main characters decided to getting married. However a wedding dream is going to be different than they expected. A lot of funny scenes. I recommend for those who are looking for something light at the cinema.

6. Miszmasz czyli kogel mogiel 3 

Syn, głównej bohaterki Kasi powraca po latach do kraju co staje się przyczyną najróżniejszych sytuacji.
Jak dla mnie słabiutku. Dawno nie czułam się w kinie podczas ogladania filmu tak znudzona. Komedia, a jednak scen, z których można byłoby się naprawdę pośmiać zabrakło. Dla mnie miszmasz, którego niestety nie bardzo da się oglądać.

The son of the main character, Kasia, after many years has decided to return to Poland, which causes various situations. In my opinion very weak film. Since long time I didn't feel so bored at a movie theater during watching the movie.This is a comedy, but  I can't find any scene in this film that made me laugh. For me it's a hotchpotch which unfortunately is difficult to watch.
7. Glass 

Trzecia część z serii - łącząca w sobie głównych bohaterów filmu Split oraz Niezniszczalny. 

Jest subtelnie, emocjonalnie a super bohaterowie ukazani są w bardzo ludzki sposób. Ten film to pewnego rodzaju geneza bohaterów oraz ich słabości.

The third part from the series - combining the main characters from the the films : Split and Unbreakable.
It is subtle, emotional story where the super heroes are shown in a very human way. This film is a kind of genesis of heroes and their weaknesses.

8. Alita - battle Angel 

 

Manga przeniesiona na duży ekran. Szczerze byłam bardzo sceptycznie nastawiona do tego filmu. W trakcie seansu jednak zmieniłam o nim zdanie. Nawet duże oczy Ality przestały mi przeszkadzać.

Manga transferred to the big screen. On the beginning I was honestly very skeptical about this movie. During the session at the movie theater, however, I've changed my mind about them. Even Alita's big eyes didn't disturbing me any more :-)

9.- Prodigy.Opętany/ The Prodigy

 

Historia chłopczyka opanowanego przez ducha mordercy. Film całkiem niezły, mimo przewidywalnego zakończenia . W głowie jednak zostaje po seansie motyw muzyczny nucony przez głównego bohatera.

The story of a boy controlled by the ghost of a murderer. The film is quite good, despite predictable ending. After the film you don't forget the characteristic musical motif  hummed by the main character.


10.Zakon Świętej Agaty/ Saint Agatha

Całkiem ciekawie zrealizowany horror. Główna bohaterka znajdująca się w ciężkiej życiowej sytuacji trafia do domu opieki dla przyszłych matek prowadzącego przez zakonnice. Niestety miejsce to nie jest w rzeczywistości takim jakim na pozór wydaje się być

Quite interestingly realized horror movie. The main character is in a difficult life situation goes to a rest home for future mothers led by nuns. Unfortunately, this place is not really what it seems to be.

11. Kobiety mafii 2

Druga część z serii filmów Vegi, w której panie przejmują stery władzy w organizacjach mafijnych.Trucizny, piły, śrubokręty oraz inne typowo "kobiece" gadżety w akcji... Jak dla mnie słabiutko. 

The second part from the series of Vega films, in which ladies take the  power in mafia organizations. Poisons, saws, screwdrivers and other typically "feminine" gadgets in action ... For me, very weak film.

12. Kafarnaum / Capernaum

 

Film mnie zachwycił. Piękne zdjęcia, bardzo dobrze zagrany. Ponadto chwytająca za serce opowieść o róznych odcieniach macierzyństwa, a także przedwczesnego dorastania przez dzieci, których najwcześniejsze lata życia determinuje fakt przyjścia na świat w takiej, a nie innej rodzinie. Film zdecydowanie wart obejrzenia.

The movie delighted me. Beautiful pictures, very well played.And extra a heart-catching story telling about different shades of motherhood and  as well as about a premature growing up by children, whose earliest years of life is determined by the fact of coming into the world in that and not a other family. A movie definitely worth to watch.


13. Gdyby ulica Beale mogła mówić/ If Beale street could talk

 

Kolejna oscarowa propozycja poruszajaca problemy oraz sytuację czarnoskórych obywateli USA. Film subtelny, opowiadający o sile miłości, z pięknym motywem muzycznym w tle.

Another Oscar proposition touching the problems and the situation of black US citizens. A subtle movie, telling about the power of love, with a beautiful musical theme in the background.

Czytanie jest dla mnie jak oddychanie. Robię to odkąd pamiętam. Początkowo gdy byłam dzieckiem i jeszcze nie potrafiłam tego robić samodzielnie, czytali mi moi rodzice. To oni początkowo poprzez różnego rodzaju bajki oraz baśnie  wprowadzali mnie stopniowo do magicznej krainy książek.  Gdy byłam dziewczynką uwielbiałam czytać fikcyjne historie z  życia innych dziewczynek oraz chłopców. Wspólnie z nimi przeżywałam wówczas różnego typu przygody. 

Z wiekiem zaczęłam wybierać inne pozycje książkowe z totalnie różnych dziedzin literatury. Dziś najchętniej czytam thrillery oraz kryminały, ale wciąż z przyjemnością sięgam po książki obyczajowe, dramaty, biografie czy dzieła naukowe i filozoficzne.

W miesiącu lipcu udało mi się przeczytać  dziewięć książek, z czego siedem z nich stanowi cykl Chyłka napisany przez popularnego w ostatnim okresie czasu Remigiusza Mroza.

Poniżej prezentuję Wam moją lipcową listę przeczytanych książek.

Reading is like breathing to me. I've been doing it since I can remember. At first, when I was a kid and I still could not do it by myself, my parents read to me. Initially, through different kind of fairy tales, they gradually introduced me to the magical world of books. When I was a girl, I loved reading fictional stories taken from the fictional life of other girls and boys. Together with them, I experienced different types of adventures.

With age, I started to choose various books from totally different areas of literature. Today the books that I love to read the most are thrillers and crime novels, but I am still happy to reach for different kind of books such like a dramas, biographies or scientific and philosophical works.

Below I present to you my July list of read books.

In the month of July, I managed to read nine books, of which seven are coming from the Chyłka cykle written by the recently popular in Poland Remigiusz Mróz.

Książki przeczytane w miesiącu lipcu/

Pozycje 1-7  

Remigiusz Mróz seria Joanna Chyłka/Remigiusz Mróz Chyłka cykle

Tę serię przeczytałam w przeciągu 2 tygodni. Główna bohaterka Joanna Chyłka-

jest adwokatem w jednej z prestiżowych warszawskich kancelarii Żelazy&McVay.

Każdy z tomów poświęcony jest generalnie odrębnej sprawie, jednak pewne elementy je wszystkie ze sobą łączą. Jednym z ciekawszych elementów tej serii jest relacja pomiędzy Joanną Chyłką a jej aplikantem Konradem „Zordonem” Oryńskim. Seria zdecydowanie jest warta przeczytania.

I read this series during two weeks. The main character Joanna Chyłka- is an attorney at one of Warsaw's prestigious law offices - Żelazy & McVay. Each of the volumes is talking  generally about  separate matter, however, some elements of all books have a strong connection with others and this is the reason why is much better to read this book one by one where they have been published. One of the most interesting elements of this series is the relationship between Joanna Chyłka and her apprentice Konrad "Zordon" Oryński. The series is definitely is worth to reading.

Pozycja 8

 Dario Correnti „Zmowa”/ Dario Correnti „ Nostalgia del sangue”

Czytam sporo thrillerów i kryminałów a wśród nich właśnie ta pozycja napisana przez

Włocha jakoś nie do końca przypadła mi do gustu. Główni bohaterowie książki to para 

dziennikarzy śledczych – on Marco Besana od kilkunastu lat w zawodzie, ona –Ilaria Piatti

 debiutująca  stażystka, lecz bardzo inteligentna stażystka. Razem poświęcają się pracy 

pisząc artykuły i zdobywając coraz to nowe materiały dotyczące mordercy 

kobiet – kanibala, którego zbrodnie przypominają te, które miały miejsce kilkadziesiąt 

lat wcześniej. Pomysł na książkę całkiem ciekawy, jednak postacie oraz styl pisania autora

 nie do końca do mnie przemówiły.

I read a lot of thrillers and crime novels, among them this one written by

The Italian writter Dario Correnti it’s not to the end my cup of tea. The main characters 

of the book are a couple investigative journalists - he - Marco Besana who is working in 

this brunch since many years and  she -Ilaria Piatti a debuting, but a very intelligent trainee. 

Together, they sacrifice themselves to writing articles and gaining more and more new

 materials about the murderer of women - the cannibal, whom crimes are almost the same

 like those that took place a few decades earlier. The idea for a book is quite interesting, 

however, the characters and style of writing of the author are something that I don’t like 

to the end about this book.

 

 Pozycja 9

 Karen McManus „ Jedno z nas kłamie”/ Karen McManus „ One of us is lying”

Piątka licealistów: Simon, Nate, Cooper, Addy i Bronwyn za karę pilnowana przez

 jednego z nauczycieli musi zostać po lekcjach w szkole. W trakcie odbywania przez 

nich kary dochodzi na zewnątrz szkoły do wypadku samochodowego. W tym samym

 czasie  jedno z nich ulega śmiertelnemu zatruciu. Pozostaje kwestia i odpowiedź na 

pytanie – kto jest zabójcą. Każde z nich o czym przekonujemy się w miarę czytania ma 

powód, aby zabić. Myślę, że książka wielu z Was, którzy zdecydują się po nią sięgnąć 

zaskoczy swoim zakończeniem.

Five high school students: Simon, Nate, Cooper, Addy and Bronwyn guarded by one of 

the teachers must stay as a punishment after classes at school. While they are serving their

 punishment, outside near to the school  took a place a car accident. At the same time one of

 them died cause of poisoning. There remains the question and the answer - who is the killer. 

 Each of them, as we can see during  reading, has a reason to kill. I think that many of you 

who decide to reach for this book position will be surprise  with its ending.

Pozycja 10

Sławomir Jastrzębowski „Toksyna”

Autor pisząc tę książkę  miał chyba  na celu zszokowanie czytelnika- co 

w pewien sposób mu się nawet udało. Nie szczędzi bowiem brutalnych opisów 

oraz wulgarnego języka. Główny bohater – Sławciu – to typ  mięśniaka żyjącego 

nieco poza granicami prawa. Otoczony luksusem, traktujący wszystkich dookoła

 ( zwłaszcza kobiety) w sposób powierzchowny i płytki zdecydowanie nie wzbudził 

mojej sympatii. Książka napisana w sposób chaotyczny. Alkoholowo-narkotykowe 

rozważania filozoficzne głównego bohatera specjalnie też nic w nasze życie nie znoszą. 

Ta książka zatem moim zdaniem  to pozycja dla wytrwałych.

The author who wrote this book probably wanted to shock his readers - in a way

he even succeeded. This book contains quite a lot of brutal descriptions and vulgar

 language. The main character - Sławciu - is a type of a over muscle man who lives in 

 some way outside the borders of the law. Surrounded by luxury, treating everyone 

around (especially women) in a superficial and shallow way; definitely did not grab

 my sympathy. The book is written in a very chaotic way. Alcohol-drug philosophical 

considerations of the main character also they don’t bring nothing new to our lives. 

This book, therefore, in my opinion is a position for the persistent readers.
