Witam Was serdecznie po dłuższej przerwie. W czerwcu miałam niezwykle intensywny okres związany z pracą, próbami do spektaklu oraz dwoma krótkimi wyjazdami. Totalnie nie starczyło mi czasu, aby być tu z Wami częściej, co postaram się troszkę nadrobić. Zanim przejdę do relacji z podróży po Pradze, to zapraszam Was do krótkiego spotkania z budynkiem uważanym za jeden z najbrzydszych budynków na świecie. Žižkov Television Tower, bo to o nim mowa jest najwyższą, mierząca 216 metrów budowlą w stolicy Czech-Pradze. Aby ją zobaczyć skorzystajcie z zielonej linii metra i wysiądźcie na stacji Jiriho z Podebrad. Wystarczy przejść kilka metrów i już będziecie mieli okazję podziwiać ten niezwykły budynek. Nie będę ukrywać, że gdy my zobaczyliśmy go po raz pierwszy zrobił na nas ogromne wrażenie wywołując silne uczucie niepokoju.
Hello everyone after a long break. In June I had an extremely busy period with work, rehearsals for a play and two short trips. Totally I didn't have enough time to be here with you more often, which I will try to make up for a little. Before I get to the report of my Prague trip, I'd like to invite you to a brief encounter with a building considered one of the ugliest buildings in the world. Žižkov Television Tower, as it is referred to, is the tallest building in the Czech capital-Prague, measuring 216 meters. To see it, take the green metro line and get off at Jiriho z Podebrad station. Just walk a few meters and you will already have the opportunity to admire this remarkable building. I won't hide the fact that when we saw it for the first time it made a huge impression on us causing a strong feeling of anxiety.
Žižkov Television Tower została zbudowana na przełomie lat 80-tych oraz 90-tych. Zaprojektowała ją trójka architektów: Vaclav Aulicky, Jiri Kozak oraz Alex Bem. Emitowane jest z niej siedem stacji radiowych oraz cztery multipleksy nadziemnej telewizji. Ponadto znajdują się na niej stacje bazowe telefonii komórkowej oraz urządzenia do monitoringu środowiska.
Žižkov Television Tower was built in the late 1980s and early 1990s. It was designed by a trio of architects: Vaclav Aulicky, Jiri Kozak and Alex Bem. Seven radio stations and four above-ground television multiplexes are broadcast from it. In addition, it houses cell phone base stations and environmental monitoring equipment.
Od początku była ona obiektem licznych kontrowersji. Zbudowana na dawnym żydowskim cmentarzu, mająca niezwykle futurystyczne wygląda rakiety kosmicznej wieża była krytykowana właśnie za swój wygląd. Okoliczni mieszkańcy obawiali się także negatywnego wpływu fal elektromagnetycznych. W roku 2000 dodatkowo została "ozdobiona" kilkoma rzeźbami raczkujących dzieci o zdeformowanych twarzach autorstwa kontrowersyjnego czeskiego rzeźbiarza Davida Cernego. Stanowiły one symbol ery komunizmu, infantylności oraz niezdolności do osiągnięcia dojrzałości. Dla mnie osobiście element ten dodatkowo wpływa na niepokojącą już "z natury" konstrukcję.
It has been the subject of much controversy from the beginning. Built on a former Jewish cemetery and having an extremely futuristic space rocket look, the tower was criticized precisely for its appearance. Local residents were also concerned about the negative impact of electromagnetic waves. In 2000 it was additionally "decorated" with several sculptures of crawling children with deformed faces by controversial Czech sculptor David Cerny. They were a symbol of the communist era, infantility and the inability to reach maturity. For me personally, this element further contributes to the already "inherently" disturbing construction.
Architekturę wieży zdecydowanie możemy określić mianem stylu high-tech. Na wysokości 66 metra w jej wnętrzu znajduje się restauracja oraz kawiarnia, natomiast na wysokości 93 metrów umieszczono punkt widokowy, z którego można podziwiać przepiękną panoramę Pragi. Dla osób gustujących w nietuzinkowych noclegach, wieża telewizyjna oferuje także możliwość wynajęcia apartamentu w jednopokojowym hotelu. Jego cena jednak nie należy do najniższych.
The architecture of the tower can definitely be described as high-tech style. At a height of 66 meters inside it there is a restaurant and a café, while at a height of 93 meters there is a vantage point from which you can admire the beautiful panorama of Prague. For those with a taste for unusual accommodations, the TV tower also offers the possibility of renting an apartment in a one-room hotel. Its price, however, is not among the lowest.
Žižkov Television Tower jest atrakcją, którą zdecydowanie warto uwzględnić podczas zwiedzania Pragi. Zdecydowanie, gdy będziecie mieli okazję zobaczyć ją z bliska, jej widok nie pozostawi Was obojętnym.
Žižkov Television Tower is an attraction that you should definitely consider when visiting Prague. Definitely, when you have the opportunity to see it up close, its view will not leave you indifferent.
