W tym roku zdecydowanie nadrabiam podróżniczo za poprzednie dwa lata, w których wyjazdowe plany większości z nas pokrzyżowała pandemia. Jako kierunek mojej kwietniowej wyprawy obrałam Grecję, a konkretnie otoczoną Morzem Jońskim wyspę Korfu. Jak i w przypadku Belgii skorzystałam z oferty tanich linii lotniczych ( bilety można było dostać już za 78 złotych w obie strony). Zatem grzechem byłoby nie skorzystać z okazji i dlatego też postanowiłam zrobić sobie weekend majowy dla odmiany pod koniec kwietnia :-)
Na Korfu dolecieliśmy bardzo późnym wieczorem, a że jest to stosunkowa mała wyspa to ma tylko jedno lotnisko, które znajduje się niedaleko głównego miasta Korfu. Nam ciężko było znaleźć jakiś transport publiczny o tak późnej porze, dlatego zdecydowaliśmy się dotrzeć do naszego wynajętego aparatmentu na piechotę. Zajęło nam to z szukaniem go około 40 minut. Apartament ten wynajęłam ze względu na jego dobrą lokalizację ( blisko do centrum starego miasta oraz na dworzec Green Bus, z którego odjeżdzają autobusy w różne miejsca na wyspie) a także bardzo przystępną cenę :-)
Samo miasto Korfu swoim klimatem bardzo przypomina mi moje ukochane Włochy. A Grecy to niezwykle otwarty i pomocny naród. Trochę się obawiałam czy znajdę grecką tawernę, w którym zjem coś wegetariańskiego, ale okazało się nie być to żadnym problemem. Specjalnie dla mnie zrobili przepyszne grillowane warzywa w bardzo nietuzinkowym sosie na bazie miodu. Były przepyszne.
Samo miasto Korfu na pewno zachwyca starówką oraz pięknymi widokami od morskiej strony miasta. Jest stosunkowo niewielkie i bez problemu da się je zwiedzić w ciągu jednego dnia. Warto pobłądzić w jego uliczkach oraz zakamarkach gdyż można tam odkryć wiele ciekawych miejsc. Polecam także zajrzeć na lokalny rynek w centrum gdzie kupicie świeże warzywa i owoce oraz wyroby lokalne takie jak miody czy konfitury z komkwatu.

This year, I definitely catching up for travels in the previous two years, in which most of us were thwarted by a pandemic. As the destination of my April trip, I chose Greece, and more specifically the island of Corfu surrounded by the Ionian Sea. As in the case of Belgium, I took advantage of the offer of low-cost airlines (tickets were available for PLN 78 both ways). So it will be a sin not to take advantage of the opportunity and that's why I decided to make a May long weekend for a change at the end of April :-)
We arrived in Corfu very late in the evening, and as it is a relatively small island, it has only one airport, which is close to the main city of Corfu. It was difficult for us to find any public transport at such a late hour, so we decided to reach our rented accommodation on foot. It took us about 40 minutes to search for it. I rented this apartment because of its good location (close to the center of the old town and close to the Green Bus station, from which buses depart to various places on the island) and also a very affordable price :-)
The city of Corfu itself reminds me of my beloved Italy with its climate. And the Greeks are an extremely open and helpful nation. I was a bit worried if I would find a Greek tavern where I would eat something vegetarian, but it turned out to be no problem. Especially for me, they made delicious grilled vegetables in a very unusual honey-based sauce. They were delicious.
The city of Corfu itself certainly impresses with its old town and beautiful views from the sea side of the city. It is relatively small and you can easily visit it in one day. It is worth getting lost in its streets and nooks, because you can discover many interesting places there. I also recommend taking a look at the local market in the center where you can buy fresh vegetables and fruits and also local products such as honey or jam from kumquats.
